Riverside Energy Center Expansion

Beloit, WI

Alliant Energy, owner of the $700B project, selected AECOM as the EPC contractor for the Riverside Energy Center expansion project in Beloit, WI. The Riverside Energy Center expansion project is a 650MW combined cycle natural gas generating facility with integrated PV capacity expansion to an existing 600MW combined cycle natural gas facility originally built in 2004.

PayneCrest Electric, Inc. (PCE) was selected by AECOM as the electrical subcontractor on the project. PCE was responsible for the procurement and installation of electrical systems, the installation of equipment; the procurement and installation of instrumentation; the design, supply, and installation of security and telecom systems; providing temporary power; and providing engineering review services for the electrical systems.

During the project, PCE experienced significant impacts to its work, and TRAUNER was engaged by PCE to perform a delay analysis and assist in the development of PCE’s claim. In addition to the development of PCE’s claim, TRAUNER provided a presentation at mediation, authored an expert report on PCE’s delays, impacts, and damages, issued a rebuttal report of AECOM’s expert witness, and testified on behalf of PCE at arbitration. Ultimately, PCE prevailed with a very successful award from the arbitration panel on its delay and delay-related damages.
