National Highway Institute Courses

TRAUNER has been developing and presenting NHI courses since 1986. Significantly, these courses include Highway Construction Contract Claims Handling and Avoidance, Principles of Writing Highway Construction Specifications, and The Use of Critical Path Method (CPM) for Estimating, Scheduling, and Timely Completion. In addition, all of TRAUNER’s proposed instructors are NHI-certified Instructors with a track record of success. TRAUNER understands the issues associated with the successful delivery of NHI courses. Here is a brief description of what we believe to be the most significant issues:

  • Providing great instructors with subject matter expertise. The goal of any training program is to improve the performance of the organization sending people to be trained. Subject matter expertise is not enough to ensure that participants will complete the training session with the knowledge they need to help their organizations succeed. Again, all of TRAUNER’s instructors are proven and NHI-certified.
  • Coordinating a Team Effort. As the scope of work NHI describes in the RFP amply demonstrates, conducting a successful NHI training session requires careful preparation and follow-up. NHI has a detailed and proven system for ensuring that courses are scheduled promptly, that instructors prepare appropriately, and that the course materials are customized and tailored to the host organization’s needs as much as possible. For NHI’s systems to work, however, we have to execute our course delivery obligations flawlessly every time. This means that every instructor has to have a trained and experienced Contract Administration staff behind them to schedule courses, coordinate with the host’s training coordinators, to make travel arrangements, ensure that the instructor has everything he or she needs, and to ensure that the substantial administrative package is processed and delivered timely back to NHI after the course is completed. TRAUNER has that experienced staff in place.
  • Reliability is not solely a function of commitment. In nearly four decades teaching hundreds of sessions for NHI, TRAUNER’s record of reliability is the result of concrete actions that we’ve taken to ensure that we always have an instructor at the training site ready to start the class on time, every time. NHI’s confidence in our ability to deliver is based on this record of success.
